Essential Question(s)
Explore color mixing, primary and secondary colors. What is a primary and secondary color? How do colors mix to make new colors? How can color be applied to express different textures and the techniques?
How can a paintbrush be used to create different techniques of the brush strokes?
How can we work together to accomplish a large task?

Timeline
Get there early to set up the black sheet in the hallway/ tape down- use a table if you have one
Lay down a drop cloth and tape on all four corners
Put paint on Styrofoam plates colors as red, blue and yellow, water buckets, paper towels, creating the stations for them to work in

Procedures
Make sure to prepare the paints and plastic to keep it a clean project.
Teacher Reflection
If students get messy with the paint, keeping the classroom focused on the project?
You can make this a two day teaching instead of one, which would be having them just paint the star cut out boards and practice mixing colors. Then on day two paint on the backdrop sheet. But, having them on the same day works if you have two teachers to monitor each section of students.
